Who doesn’t love an edgy leather dress? But, let’s be honest, a genuine leather dress will definitely cost you. Now, don’t get me wrong. A leather dress is definitely a great piece to have, but it’s a piece that I definitely would rather thrift and pay a fraction of the retail price rather than buy full price. However, an excellent alternative is to rock a faux leather dress.
Faux or “fake” leather is an animal hide-free alternative to real leather. It’s definitely more versatile, less expensive and celebrated as animal-friendly. Faux leather dresses are the perfect transition fabric that you can sport from winter to spring, allowing you to fully get your money’s worth. I thrifted this faux leather dress from Thrift Trader here in San Diego for $5. Such a sweet deal, won’t you say!
As it’s cool outside these days in San Diego, I opted to wear a collared shirt underneath my faux leather dress. I love this black polka dot shirt with the striped collar. A little pattern mixing in one piece is so chic to me. This shirt was thrifted from Goodwill for $2.50 and has also been featured on this blog before here.
Feeling the edgy look, I decided to style this faux leather dress with my over the knee boots. I have said it many times before, so please believe me when I say that these are one of my absolutely favorite pair of boots. As you can see here, and here, and here. They are super comfortable, they can be worn with so many outfits and was very reasonably priced, under $100.
Finally, I finished off the look with the silver rope chain and this over sized black clutch that I thrifted from AMVETs here in San Diego for $4.99.
Have you thrifted and styled a faux leather dress lately?
