I have always been a huge fan of jumpsuits and rompers. If you have been following my blog, you have already seen me rock some awesome jumpsuits or rompers here, here, and here. To me, the right jumpsuit on a woman makes a statement that sometimes a dress cannot. However, not every woman can wear just any jumpsuit and look stylish. There are definitely some dos and don’ts when purchasing a romper or jumpsuit to ensure that they buy a piece that is flattering to their body, and and looks fashionable and appropriate for whatever occasion. Of course, it goes without saying that you can find some great jumpsuits at amazing and thrifty prices.
If you are resistant to the jumpsuit trend, you are not alone. A lot of my readers have complimented me on my ability to wear a jumpsuit, but also state they themselves are afraid that they just can’t, “pull it off.” Well, I beg to differ. Remember, you are the one who determines whether or not you can pull something off. Finding the ideal jumpsuit that is right for you body is no easy task. I’ll give you that. But the results are FIRE so I highly suggest putting in the effort to find a couple of jumpsuits that will turn heads when you walk into the room. Like with most clothing, there are going to be things that look great on someone else and not great on you, or ridiculous on someone else and fabulous on you, and you’ll never really know until you try it on. I have certainly have tried on many jumpsuits only to leave those babies right there in the store, because they did not look as good on me, as they looked on the hangar. My motto is that if it isn’t working, it’s not you. It’s the clothes!
The most important thing to remember when purchasing a jumpsuit is to understand your body proportions. Jumpsuits and rompers come in varying lengths and sizes. Here are some tips for finding the perfect jumpsuit.
- If you are going for something looser and a bit more oversized, then a drop crotch is acceptable, besides many of the more casual jumpsuits are cut that way.
- If it is meant to be tailored and formal, the fit in the rise (crotch) is most important. For petite ladies (women under 5’3″), stick to fitted jumpsuits only. Oversized will simply overwhelm your frame, and that is not flattering.
- Jumpsuits tend to have a clearly defined waist. Make sure that waist is exactly where you want it to be. If you are short waisted (meaning the length between your chest and bottom is shorter than your legs) choosing a jumpsuit that places the waist where you want it to be (rather than your natural waist) can be a blessing. If you are long waisted, it will be harder for you to find jumpsuits. Look for something that has adjustable straps, if possible. Alternative, you can look for for suits that have no waist at all. That way your styling defines your waist.
I found this gorgeous white jumpsuit from one of my absolutely favorite online stores, Asos, for $34. It originally retailed for $114. However, you already know that I am allergic to paying full price for anything, so I waited until they had their mega clearance sale, and scooped it up. I love the draping in the front with the pleated straight leg pants. When I tried it on, I was instantly impressed with the flattering fit.
While it is important that you choose the right jumpsuit that fits your perfectly, accessorizing your suit brings can truly help you accomplish a true slay level. Here I choose this bright statement necklace that I got from Ebay a few years ago for $15. This statement necklace is one of my most dramatic pieces and works well with this neckline.
Finally I completed this look with these colorful block heel sandals that I purchased from A’Gaci. The heels were a fabulous price of $15. I honestly can tell you that these heels are surprisingly very comfortable. I wore them a few times for several hours standing and walking in New York City, and can say that I did not feel uncomfortable at all. Unfortunately I don’t see these exact heels on their website anymore, but similar ones of different colors.
I hope I have inspired you to be on the lookout for a jumpsuit to style this summer.

I seriously can’t believe that your outfit is a jumpsuit! I have tried a few, but I definitely am not a fan of getting completely naked to pee 🙂
That is a gorgeous jumpsuit — you look amazing – and those heels – to die for! I used to be able to wear jumpsuits – but alas, no longer!
Hahaha! I’m also allergic to paying full price 🙂 Love this jumpsuit on you! I’m hoping to try a jumpsuit or romper this year. I have a long torso, so it’s been tricky to find one that is comfortable.
That jumpsuit really suits you and the white is such a nice colour. I am quite different sizes from the top to bottom so I can’t wear a jumpsuit x
That jumpsuit looks amazing on you! I have always been hesitant of them though because I am so short and rather busty.
Such a stunning dress!Love the shoes:-)

You look absolutely stunnning. This would be my dream look. If I wore white around my kids they’d get their fingers all over it. Do they have different colors.
You look really good! My body looks kind of funny in jumpsuits, but you look amazing! Not for every body type!
That jumpsuit is amazing. I like the fitted pant with a more flowing top. I love a good jumpsuit but I haven’t found my perfect summer one yet.
I was a teen in the 70s and I wore a lot of jumpsuits, but they weren’t as pretty as this one! Love the asymmetrical line of the top part.
How chic is this outfit!
