Can I be absolutely honest with you? No outfit is truly complete without accessories. I tell my style clients in each and every session, that until accessories are added, they have an outfit that is almost ready for prime time. Accessorizing is the key to making a look simply stand out. If you are not accessorizing, you are missing the transformations that occur with accessories.
Eye-catching accessories can make a strong style statement. By pairing the essentials in your closet with a few well chosen accessories, you can transform a boring look easily. Adding accessories such as purses, jewelry, shoes, can help you create a look that is both individual and stylish.
You can turn ordinary outfits into extraordinary ensembles with the use of accessories that make a big statement. There are various ways to do this, but my favorites are the statement bag and the right pair of shoes. I recently attended a casual party with the theme – wear all white! I personally love wearing white. It’s a great color for my complexion, always looks crisp and I stand out in white. However, it can be somewhat boring if it’s an all white outfit.
I got this white camisole blouse from Forever 21 for only $9.99 on sale. I thrifted these white linen J Crew shorts from New To You consignment shop in Annapolis, MD, for $4.50! Yes, those shorts cost less than a subway sandwich. This is the beauty of thrifting. You find quality and beautiful items at amazing prices.
Now, can we talk about this fabulous, unique box purse? I am not even sure entirely what it is, but when I saw it at Buffalo Exhange, a consignment store, I grabbed it very quickly. The uniqueness is simply awesome for me. The price – $15 – even more amazing. The purse, simply said, a statement piece.
The right pair of heels is a must, when you want to take a boring outfit to fabulous. I chose these beautiful yellow mesh Jessica Simpson heels to bring life to this outfit. Can I tell you, I love Jessica Simpson heels, most because they are comfortable. I tend to get her heels on sale, because I am allergic to paying full price for anything. After stalking this pair on Macy’s I was rewarded for my patience when the price dropped. I finally picked them up for $37, discounted from $89. They are currently on sale if you are interested!
I don’t believe most of us leave the house with the intention of looking bad. Your goal after getting dressed should be to look put together and noticed for the right reasons. But, it’s no secret that the accessories really make your outfit—regardless of how beautiful your clothes are. Hopefully you have been inspired by this post to put some thought into your accessories for your next look!

You are so right, accessories are a must-have! I have a custom set of hooks inside my closet door (built by my dear husband) to hold my necklaces and bracelets, and hatboxes of scarves in my closet for every season!
